Laurencin, Marie 1885-1956
Laurencin, Marie Biography
French painter, born near Paris, where she studied art. Marie Laurencin was a friend of the French artist Georges Braque and of Pablo Picasso, and exhibited with them in 1907. Marie Laurencin was influenced by the flat shapes and bold rhythms that they and other leaders of modern art had introduced. Her subject matter, as in Mother and Child (Detroit Institute of Arts), was often of single or grouped female figures, frail and distant, clothed in pastel pink and blue. Her oil paintings have a dreamlike atmosphere, and their tones are as charmingly.
You can buy Marie Laurencin fine art reproduction oil paintings at Galerie Dada. Just select from the top.
